How to use it

Three countries, one vocabulary

The same idea often goes by three names: a Dutch deelnemingsvrijstelling, a Luxembourg participation exemption under Article 166 and a Belgian DRD all stop profit being taxed twice inside a group, with different thresholds. This glossary puts the native term next to its English meaning, tags each entry LU, NL, BE or EU, and cites the article that creates the rule.

Figures are those in force in 2026 and match our tax rates page; where a figure moves often, we leave it out and point to the source. Every entry has its own link: copy the address after # to cite a single term. Definitions explain the rules; they are not advice on your structure.
